Marshall Area Chamber and Visitor Center is Moving
The Marshall Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center is scheduled to make a move this month to a location in City Hall on the Fountain Circle. The official move will be on Thursday, April 18th but work is already ongoing to make the office space and Welcome Center ready.
“We have been at our current address for 14 years and have appreciated our location and neighboring businesses. When we moved those many years ago, it was a step-up and a much larger, brighter and better facility than we had with parking in the front for our members, visitors and citizens,” stated Monica Anderson, Chamber President/CEO.
“The Chamber has had a long term goal of moving to a more central location and when the opportunity presented itself through another initiative of the Chamber, Collaboration, we started to work towards that goal. We want people coming to town to be able to easily find us and the Fountain Circle is the center of our community and the perfect spot for accessibility.”
The Welcome Center will be located on the east corner of City Hall on the main level. The Chamber office and staff will be on the second level.
“We are a part of the Marshall Area Economic Development Alliance (M.A.E.D.A.) with a goal of strengthening the efforts for all of the Marshall Area economic agencies, including the Chamber,” Anderson said.
There will be more of a team approach with each agency and the staff of all the agencies working on community projects, industrial and commercial prospects, downtown development and whatever else is in the best interest for the future of the community. Some duties and titles of personnel will change but the work that the Chamber has done in the area of member promotion, services and tourism will be continued and expanded.
The location is temporary in the sense that eventually the plan is to remodel a large section of the main floor of City Hall and have a state of the art Welcome Center, an Economic Development Center and public restrooms. The end result will be another “step up” for the community. The offices will include the Marshall Area Chamber, Marshall Economic Development and Marshall Downtown Development/Main Street. The umbrella organization (MAEDA) will help to coordinate activities and efforts, oversee the individual organizations and assist in the coordination and expansion of the efforts.
The Chamber will have the same phone number (269-781-5163) but the address will now be 323 West Michigan Avenue. For more information on the Chamber move, please call the Chamber at 269-781-5163 or visit the Chamber website at www.marshallmi.org.
